Camden Chamber has representative, Maryann Strickling, on the committee of South West Sydney Tourism Taskforce. This organisation was founded in 2016-17 in a bid to address and harness the tourism growth in South West Sydney. The Taskforce represents the tourism stakeholders located within the local government areas of Liverpool, Fairfield, Penrith, Camden, Wollondilly, Campbelltown.
There are an increasing number of international visitors coming to South West Sydney with convenient travel from the city via the M5 and M7. It is vitally important, therefore, to ensure our areas are recognised as a tourist destination and grasp the economic opportunities available.
The Tourism Taskforce provides many facets for understanding tourism. There are informative presentations from a range of guest speakers involved in international tourism and Sydney's urban design. The stakeholders' collective knowledge on the characteristics and trends evident in South West Sydney provide further understanding of the role Camden can play as a tourist destination.
