Thank you Camden Chamber of Commerce for making me feel so welcome. I had thoughts of turning my MC “hobby” into a business and it was with your encouragement and Light Up Camden event that made my dream a reality. Today I live the dream and continue to enjoy the meetings and comradeship of this Chamber.
Be present at each business meeting and ignore your phone if possible. There's plenty of time to work the room and get to know everyone. If you struggle in a crowd, bring a friend with you to ease into it. There's plenty of friendly people who will make sure you don't feel uncomfortable at your first meeting. Have plenty of business cards ready to hand out.
The cheapest promotion is word of mouth and that's where business relationships are vital. After a business meeting you'll be starting conversations with, "I met this person at Chamber the other night and they..." Guess what? Other people are saying the same to their circle of friends after meeting you at that Chamber meeting.
Chamber is able to provide speakers and trainers to support knowledge improvements and business targeted learning. Chamber can run seminars and workshops that comply with CPD for various professional services. Business meetings should provide you with some take-home points for your business or at least instill some confidence and inspiration in your role as a business person.
When I first started my business, I didn’t know too many other business owners around town. Going to Chamber meetings meant I met many local business people. I’ve found so much encouragement in other self-employed people who have experienced so much in their own business. Talking with them about my experiences has given me confidence to feel every issue has a workable solution.
Camden Chamber is the voice of collective businesses and is able to advocate on our members' behalf. Members are able to be involved and have the chance to influence local government on issues that affect local businesses.
There is free marketing exposure on our website and business directory. Members frequently support other members' businesses when choosing to make purchases for goods and services. Chamber also offers advertising and sponsorship opportunities for member businesses.
We are able to provide access to many business resources via our alliance partnership with NSW Business Chamber. We provide timely news and announcements on local issues that may have an effect on industries and member businesses.
NSW Business Chamber can support our members across key business areas which may not be our core areas of core competency. Their expert consultants have been providing specialist advice across a number of areas for decades, including:
